Therapeutic Support
CFS Care Fostering is developing a psychodynamic lens that supports the relationships between the foster carers and the children in their homes.
CFS Care Fostering know there is not one solution or quick fix when it comes to developmental trauma, but our integrative therapeutic approach considers the child’s background, carers strengths and pulls evidenced based, trauma-informed practices.
Our in-house therapist pulls from many modalities to consider the child holistic needs and deep dive into relationship dynamics. Our therapist has almost a decade of experiences of working with foster and adoption families and uses dyadic as well as sensorimotor psychotherapy training.

Therapeutic Training:
CFS Care Fostering understands the important of team work and experiential learning and we offer our carers the opportunity to attend five face-face therapeutic training sessions a year. The session include the following topics:
Introduction to Attachment
ACE's and Childhood Trauma
Therapeutic Parenting (2 days)
Attachment and the Internal Working Model
“I thoroughly enjoy face to face group work and the creative tasks” Foster Carer Winter 2024
“the tools and resources and support make the world of difference” Foster Carer Winter 2024
“Although I’ve already completed similar training, this training was much more interactive and easy to understand”. Foster Carer, Spring 2025
“Love the training sessions. Beneficial from both training content and peers experiences” Spring 2025
Group Reflective Practice:
We hold a 90 minute Group Reflective Practice session every month in Wigan. This allows our carers an opportunity to come together as professionals to develop an analytic lens, supporting each other with specific difficulties they may be facing.
One to One Therapeutic Support:
Our therapist can offer weekly or fortnightly session to think and feel together a out the child’s history, current presenting behaviour, negativing professionals relationship or anything else that is relevant to your role as a foster carer. These sessions take a psychodynamic lens but may also be practical, offer playful interaction and support you to develop PACE approach when responding to attachment seeking behaviours, dysregulation or challenge.
All our fostering team staff are offered clinical supervision by our therapist and the team also engages in monthly group Reflective Practise.

Hello, my name is Clare Warland and I am a Play and Creative Arts Therapist and Clinical Supervisor.
I have additional training in DDP, Theraplay, VIG and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
I joined CFS on a part time basis in June 2024 and continue in private practice part time. I have been working with children in adoption and foster care for almost 10 years and am truly humbled by the honesty and bravery of the children and carers I work with. In my spare time I go to Yoga, like to eat out and see my friends and family who live in south of England.
